A variety of use options

  • As an integral component of the Transit translation memory system, TermStar is automatically started whenever Transit is opened. During the translation process, Transit automatically searches the TermStar dictionaries assigned to the project. If a terminology entry is found, it can be inserted directly into the translation.

  • TermStar can also be activated and used as a supplementary terminology support module for layout or word processing programs (like Word, WordPerfect AmiPro or FrameMaker).

  • For editing with STAR GRIPS, TermStar can work as an optional module within GRIPS, providing the right terminology and marking incorrect terminology during the creation of new text.

  • TermStar can also operate as a supplementary module in WebTerm, allowing multiple editors and translators working together on international projects to access the most current terminology at any time from any location. TermStar supports WebTerm Download. This allows you to update your locally-stored dictionaries with terminology that is centrally maintained in WebTerm through a delta check.

  • TermStar can also be used as a stand-alone dictionary program. The TermStar desktop offers a convenient user interface for displaying, searching and editing dictionaries.

Conducting updates through WebTerm Download

Local TermStar installations support the WebTerm Download function. This allows you to update your locally-stored dictionaries with terminology centrally managed in WebTerm through a delta check.

By conducting this update, TermStar users can ensure that dictionaries stored locally on their computers contain the most current entries centrally managed with WebTerm.

Incorporation of different databases via ODBC

TermStar features an ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) interface that allows you to access many common database systems and platforms (Microsoft Access, Oracle Database, IBM DB 2, Microsoft SQL Server). These databases let you manage very large amounts of terminology data.

Third-party product integration via API

TermStar features an API and can be easily integrated into a variety of third-party software (e.g., terminology support for authors, incorporation into corporate-wide information management and administration solutions such as spare parts logistics systems, SAP and GRIPS).
