GRIPS modules, interfaces and technologies
User-friendly interfaces
The matrix is the core module of the GRIPS software for managing databases and the centerpiece of the user interface for navigating the entire information pool. At the same time, it is an excellent instrument for monitoring the status of projects.
Use of existing company data
GRIPS can import and use product information from other software systems (PDM, PPS, spare parts logistics, etc.) via interfaces. Previously created information in SGML/XML format can also be imported and directly modified.
Workflow automation
Workflow automation solutions reduce the time required for file handling and controlling in the editing and translation process (supports project managers in project planning, monitoring and quality assurance tasks, etc.). Standardized processes are completed fully automatically, and predefinable quality controls are conducted by the system.
Multilingual data storage
Language versions of developed information are managed via the language axis in the GRIPS matrix in uniform data structures. GRIPS uses the Unicode standard (ISO 10460). In GRIPS, editing and translation languages are freely selectable. Translation can be performed from any language into any language; the processes remain identical.
Version and history management
All changes to the database are dated and documented, making them traceable at all times. Previously published "historical" documentation can thus be regenerated at a later time quickly and in compliance with the original, eliminating the need to store and manage old documents.
Maximum capacity with minimal requirements
GRIPS offers maximum capacity with minimal hardware requirements. The single source principle of data storage makes GRIPS processes simple and fast. Using GRIPS is an investment in the longevity of information and guarantees optimal production and maintenance with minimal effort.
Central and global teamwork
Teamwork-based production of technical documentation is supported by GRIPS in an ideal fashion. Thanks to the common GRIPS information model, team members can view other participants' work and can use their data entries as needed. This allows even team members in different locations to work together with the most current data at all times.
Fully automatic layout generation
GRIPS eliminates the need for manual layout/formatting work. Selected user- or situation-based information is published completely automatically in accordance with previously defined layout specifications. This process applies to all languages and media. Today, GRIPS is by far the world's fastest layout generator, surpassing other systems in reliability.
Individual user management
Different access rights can be defined for user groups or individual users. Rights can be assigned at different axis-specific levels or for individual information units.
High integration ability
Intelligent interfaces, the existing API and the high configurability of GRIPS guarantee high integration ability into third-party systems such as CAD, PPM, PPS or ERP. GRIPS supports different database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
