GRIPS application areas
With freely configurable standard components and topic and client-specific information structures, GRIPS is the ideal solution for a broad spectrum of applications:
Internal and external documentation in the following areas:
Management: product data, product requirements, contracts, status reports
Research and development: functional specifications, product specifications, product information, circuit diagrams
Work preparation and production: product process descriptions, work instructions, acceptance certificates and tests
Sales and marketing: product descriptions, technical data sheets, brochures
After sales: client literature, workshop literature, spare parts catalogs, diagnostic processes and documentation
Support information systems, online help
Controlled diagnostics on various platforms and systems
Standardized documentation
GRIPS supports all common industry standards, such as:
ATA200/ATA2001
ASD S1000D
SAE J2008
Mumasy, etc.
GRIPS users include:
Technical editors
Editors research and record content in company-wide information systems using the GRIPS Editor. The GRIPS Editor supports various functions, including: displaying content structures, creating and tracking links, spelling checks, etc. STAR MindReader simultaneously provides the editor with context-sensitive, prerecorded and established sentence and terminology suggestions for text entry. Similar content is thus similarly formulated.
Translators
With GRIPS, translating is analogous to editing but in other languages. Because GRIPS eliminates the need to retranslate unchanged units of information, translation volume is greatly reduced. Thanks to its precise, content-oriented structure, the translator can access all topographical information at any time, in either the source or target language. This lets the translator view content-related information regarding even the smallest text entries.
Terminologists
Terminologists benefit from special improvements in their working environment. Authorized users can access the most up-to-date, content-structured terminology entries through direct linking of the GRIPS classification system with TermStar or WebTerm terminology database systems. Terminologists can modify, translate and assign attributes to new terms entered by editors, thus making the updated terminology database available for subsequent editing.
Documentation managers
With the GRIPS Manager, documentation managers can supervise and coordinate their projects and teams. This includes the following activities: creating multidimensional management structures, configuring the status model, establishing workflows, managing history and versions, creating users and access rights, monitoring the database and aligning data from multiple sites.
IT managers
Centralized data storage with GRIPS makes life easy for IT managers through: storage space conservation, simplified data security, secured access rights assignment, reliable synchronization functions for multiple sites, flexible interfaces to other company databases such as engineering, finance, marketing, etc.
Publication managers
Automatic document generation in GRIPS offers unique advantages: shorter publication cycles, faster updates, last-minute changes prior to publication, complete elimination of layout work in all languages, publishing on all media and perfect coherence of information across all publications.
